    infragistics online document

I am wondering how infragistics create an online document like http://help.infragistics.com/NetAdvantage/NET/2008.2/CLR2.0/.

Are there any tool to generate those documents?

    Answer

The Infragistics documentation online (or installed) is generated using Innovasys Document! X for the API portion, and their HelpStudio tool for the Developer's Guide portion.  The online help program is an in house developed application that takes the output from the two previously mentioned tools and and uses the help2 generated Table of Contents to allow navigation between the topics.

A couple of cautions about this:

    • The document is frames-based, which prevents you from bookmarking (or Googling) individual pages
    • If you use the Search mode to find a page, there is no way to discern how to get to this page using the navigation tree.

My understanding is that Infragistics is addressing these issues; you might want to wait and adopt their eventual solution.

But in any case, please let us know how of your eventual solution.

Yeah, some of the new Aikido controls help eliminate the frames.  We are working to use those controls as much as possible in the new solution, and working with the R&D team to expand some of the features in those controls to enable us more flexibility.  Both of those bullets are noted in the feature list (especially the second one).
